Etna & Alcantara Full Experience

Itinerary:

9:00 AM – Departure from Giardini Naxos / Taormina / Letojanni and nearby areas. You’ll set off aboard 4x4 vehicles toward the first villages on the slopes of Mount Etna (Piedimonte and Linguaglossa), then begin the ascent along the volcano’s flanks, reaching the 2002 lava flow — the most devastating eruption of the last 100 years — through dense pine forests and birch woods.

Next, you’ll visit a stunning lava cave, equipped with helmets and torches to enter safely and explore this fascinating volcanic formation.

Afterwards, the tour continues upward to the Extinct Craters, located at an altitude of around 2,000 meters. Here, you’ll enjoy a one-hour trek on medium-easy trails to admire the lunar landscape and get a close-up view of the craters.

Following the hike, you’ll stop for a picnic in the pine forest or enjoy a break at a local café with typical Sicilian products (depending on the weather conditions).

After lunch, the descent begins towards the Alcantara Valley, passing through Castiglione di Sicilia, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages.

Finally, you’ll cool off in the refreshing waters of the famous Alcantara Gurne, where you’ll explore the ancient basalt rock walls shaped by the river.
